Nostalgic. That is how I felt when I first listened to Alison Sudol's music. You know that kind of music that takes you back someplace, sometime? That's how it was for me. This fine music zapped me all the way back to my high school days, chilling out in a dull heated afternoon just listening to music. It didn't matter what type of music it was...as long as it was fine and something you can relate to, it's all good.
A Fine Frenzy as she calls herself (taken from William Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" Theseus, Act 5, Scene 1: "The poet's eye, in a fine frenzy rolling, doth glance from heaven to earth, from earth to heaven"), is really the best best way to describe herself and the lovely music she produces. There are bouncy songs, slow songs, tones that go high then drop. There songs about being happy, being sad, love, grief and everything else in between. Either with full band or just plain piano, the songs just take you from nowhere to everywhere.
The lyrics from this wonderful artist are just raw and pure. It has everything that I look for from an alternative artist, heck from a music artist. Some songs tell us a certain experience, some just tells us a story of some random trivial thing, The kind that just pops out of nowhere and blindsides you. It's real and somehow I feel that every single line in the song was experienced by the artist. Its actual and comes from the heart.

Also, I do not know if it is just me, but listening to her is like giving me Tori Amos and Michelle Branch wrapped together. The hauntingly sweet voice with an edge reminds me of both artists.
If you wanna go to different places through music, then hop on to this fine frenzy. I shall be listening to artist for a very very long time.
And yes, I am very fond of pretty redheaded girls with wonderful voices....

Interesting facts:
- Alison Sudol listened to a wide variety of music growing up, from swing to rock to Aretha Franklin (I guess this explains the wide types of music she produces)
- The short demo she sent out received attention from EMI's Jason Flom, who signed her after visiting her house and "listening to her play."
- Sudol's music has been featured multiple times on the television series House. The song "Whisper" was heard during the episode "Joy to the World", and the song "Hope for the Hopeless" has been in three episodes: "Act Your Age", "Human Error", and "Airborne". "Hope for the Hopeless" was also featured in the Defying Gravity episode "Natural Selection". The song "Lifesize" was played during the episode "Doppelgangers" of How I Met Your Mother.
